The Presidio is such a gorgeous spot to take engagement photos! We hiked all over the park with Anastasia + Matt over Memorial Day weekend. They both LOVE the outdoors, so this location was perfect. We also got some photos on the beach, which we'll share later :)
Hope everyone had a great holiday weekend!

While out scouting a location for an engagement shoot this week, we thought we'd take a photograph of our stout and lusty bridge to commemorate its 75th anniversary today. This image was taken milliseconds before these unsuspecting, sleepy, sunbathing seagulls were engulfed in a sudden, cold, salty shower.
The bridge is a magical portal conveying us from our often cold, foggy weather in SF to the welcome, blaring heat of Marin. Last time we traveled across it, we were returning from Mendocino, stopped to pay our toll, and were surprised to find that the driver ahead of us had paid our passage! We are in love with this bridge. There is something beautifully poetic about having a bridge for our city's primary icon. We can never cross it without gazing out our windows in wonder. It has patiently posed in the background for many of our engagement and family photo sessions, and we're sure to cast it in countless more shoots in the future.
Thanks for all your hard work, and Happy Birthday!

This is a shot we wanted to share from a dance performance we shot at ODC Dance Theater for the newspaper. Love how her hair is flying and then the contrasting colors between the background and her body. So dramatic!
Have a lovely holiday weekend everyone :)

Wedding photos on a yacht?! Yes please! We had so much fun with Y + C in Sausalito, taking their wedding photos along the waterfront. What a gorgeous and lovely couple! Congrats to them both!

OMG! Anya is totally adorable! We had the best time with her and her loving parents on a super gorgeous morning in Clarion Alley. We took more photos with this kiddo than you can imagine. Every move she made screamed cuteness! We'll post a few more later -- there are tooo many to pick from, but this is just a taste.
Hope everyone is doing well and is looking forward to the upcoming holiday weekend! Yay!

We've been doing some California dreamin' lately with all this sunny weather, and had to stop to take a photo of these golden poppies sunbathing on a jutting rock perfectly frosted with lichen. What a bouquet! To all our wonderful friends and fans around the world, here's a little California love.

We had the opportunity to serve a wonderful non-profit organization, Josie's Place, that offers peer-facilitated grief counseling to children and teens by taking photos at their 5th year anniversary celebration. Sacred work. Seven Ponds interviewed co-founder/director of Josie's Place, Pat Murphy. In the article, Pat Murphy describes the grieving process and provides advice to people who have experienced loss. The article also features some of Bowerbird Photography's photography. We are grateful and proud to be photographers; to be chosen to document the rich texture of people's lives. Photographs honor. They cherish. They remember. We are ever mindful of our duty to create art that speaks simply and beautifully of the values we cherish the most.

This engagement shoot was totally glamorous! We spent several hours with them in Alamo Square, with the classic Painted Ladies in the background (don't worry -- will post more of the photos later!) and tons of adorable photos with puppies -- Tina is crazy about puppies! Well, who isn't? Or, kitties for that matter :)
A super huge congrats to them both!

In the email we send out to clients before a photo session, we always let them know that their clothing might get dirty during the shoot, but in this case, they got a little wet! Laura and Chris were so plalyful, and despite the fact that the weather report said "thunderstorms," we had amazing blue skies all afternoon and it was actually so warm, that these two hopped in the fountain by the Academy of Sciences, just for kicks! We loved how silly and happy they are together because it made taking beautiful photographs of them that much more fun!

Library make-out sesh! So much fun! Christine and B met in grad school, so it only seemed appropriate to get some photos of them smooching in the stacks. Adorable, right?! These photo are proof that learning really can be fun!

We wanted to post a few more photos from our engagement shoot with Ellen + Fernando. Before the shoot, we asked them what they were into and they said they were into David Lynch and John Waters' movies. So during the session we got creative with our shots, using fire, reflecting glass, tall dried plants ... and also had them whip around their hair in the wind, just because they both have awesome hair! Soooo excited to take photos at their wedding in a few months!

Cang + Therese are gorgeous in this photo! We spent the morning with them at Baker Beach a few weeks ago and took their engagement photos with the iconic Golden Gate Bridge in the background. It's days like these where we really can't believe that this is our full-time job!
This couple is so wonderful and we had the best time with them, running around on the beach, hiking up the sand dunes ... and spotting classic Baker Beach nudists! Haha! This is San Francisco ... what do you expect?!
We're so excited to spend more time with them on their wedding day and take photos of a traditional Chinese wedding tea ceremony. It's going to be beautiful!

Look!! We have a full page photo of Fauxnique in the May issue of San Francisco Magazine, a fab drag SF performance artist. She's hitting all the newsstands and re-inventing ideas of femininity and sexuality. You go, girl!
This shot was taken during a final dress rehearsal of her show, entitled "Luxury Items." It was a super fun shoot because it wasn't a public performance and we were able to run around on the stage and get some really intimate and creative angles. Fauxnique is unique, because she's a woman who dresses in drag. The design across her body in the photograph was made using a projection and makes it look like she is wrapped in a beautiful lace outfit. We're super excited to have our work featured in this iconic SF publication and to have been able to take photos of such a wonderful artist here in the Bay Area! We love covering LGBTQI events, performance art, and of course, weddings! We so enjoy being the go-to photographers, supporting this awesome and creative community in the Bay Area :)
