Well I think it's nice to make a trip this time since the number of tourists has gone down a bit here due to the global economic melt-down. Laos is boring, especially Vientiane, but I heard that the old capital of Laos, Luang Prabang is very nice. Bangkok, Thailand is all about the fun, shopping's good, weekend and night market, but what you should not miss are the bars and night-clubs, save some of your day-time energy for the night. Many cool bars and restaurants, night clubs are really cool. Other than Bangkok you can go down to Hua hin (the Beach Town) very relaxing town with lots of good food. Or you can spend some 2 or 3 days on an island (Koh Samet is the closest one to Bkk).
