San Francisco City Hall Photographs of Janice + Travis' Wedding

Bowerbird Photography (www.bowerbirdphotography.com) couldn't have been more thrilled than to shoot this wedding in San Francisco's gorgeous beaux-arts styled City Hall (which looks almost exactly like a building in Paris, called Les Invalides) not only because it is a photographer's playground, but because the couple themselves were so warm and easy-going.  The sweeping architecture provided a perfectly romantic setting for their simple and elegant wedding, filled with loving friends and family.

For a spectacular contrast to City Hall, we joined the couple for a trip underground on MUNI, where we joined the gape-jawed commuters for a trip to the waterfront.  We took wedding couples portraits, aka "the romantics," on a fishing pier while a sailboat regatta raced around us.  While thunderstorms had threatened all day, this couple had the magic luck of newlyweds, and the sky was perfectly blue with picturesque cumulous clouds cottoning the horizon.

    Congratulations Janice and Travis!!!

Stay tuned as we post more awesome photos of the wedding on our blog.

Custom Prints and Wedding Albums

This is a 12"x12" print made of one of the Holga shots Sam took at Karin + Craig's wedding. We love that Holgas have such huge negatives, which means we can blow the images up really big (like wall-sized!) and get beautiful quality prints, with a bit of vintage flair.

Ariel is featuring a wedding album with photographs printed on archival paper, in a beautiful canvas bound book.

Custom prints and albums are wonderful gifts to give to the bride and groom so they can always remember the special moments of their wedding. Contact us at lovebirds@bowerbirdphotography.com and visit our website for more details on custom orders.

Hot from the Hot Springs: Photos with Friends, Sonoma County

This past weekend, our dear friend Matt corralled a crew of wonderful friends for a trip to some hot springs for a long soak of inspiring conversation, forest hikes with wild turkey crossings, and uninterrupted bliss.  On the return trip we made a pit-stop in Sonoma County at a vineyard and took these photographs.  After the glasses were tipped, Matt gently cajoled his dad's VW bus down the road to San Francisco as the nearly full moon rose over the winter-bare vineyards.  Thanks Matt for connecting us with such beautiful people, and taking time to visit us on your break from Thailand.  We'll miss you and can't wait for further adventures when you return in the spring!!!

Happy New Year!!! Photographs from New Year's Eve

On New Year's Eve we walked up the hill to spend the evening with our dear friends to celebrate the arrival of the new year.  We ate amazing garlicky Cuban food, played Apples-to-Apples, watched the fireworks spark over San Francisco, listened to disco jams on the turn-table, and drank a wide variety of rum drinks.

Bowerbird Photography is thankful for the love and support of our family, friends, clients, and community in 2011, and is excited to take photographs at all the wonderful weddings and family portrait sessions already booked throughout 2012, and look forward to meeting more brides and grooms in the future.  As a husband-and-wife team, we feel incredibly fortunate to be able to work together, and to collaborate with and contribute to the incredible people we meet with through our art.
